Math, it works....Facebook proves 4.7 degrees of separation

Modern science depends on statistics and this neat bit of math came to my attention last week. Facebook wanted to test the adage that everyone is only 6 degrees of separation apart from someone else. So, they used their database of billions of users and crunched data to show that the average distance between any two users on the planet is actually about 4.7 friend connections.
